Staying a Month or More? What to Look for in a Long-Term Rental
Snowbird season, a remote-work winter or time between homes. The questions to ask before you book a monthly stay.
More and more guests stay with us for a month or longer, especially in winter. A longer stay is a different kind of trip, and a few things matter more than usual.
Start with comfort for everyday life, not just vacation: a real workspace, reliable Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, a fully stocked kitchen and enough storage to unpack. Ask how often cleaning happens during a long stay and whether linens are refreshed.
Location matters differently too. Think about groceries, a pharmacy, a gym and the drive to doctors or family, not only the beach. A quiet neighborhood can feel better over four weeks than a busy one.
Finally, read the terms carefully. Ask what is included in the price, how utilities are handled, the pet policy, the deposit and what happens if a storm affects your stay. Longer stays can come with different rules, and a good host will explain them clearly.
