Culture first: The Ringling's art museum and circus museum, the Sarasota Art Museum, Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium and The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton can each fill a morning. Catch a matinee at one of Sarasota's theaters, or browse the galleries on Palm Avenue.
For something low-key, wander the shops at the Mall at University Town Center or St. Armands Circle (bring an umbrella), take a cooking-from-the-farmers-market day at home, or settle in with board games and a movie.
And remember: a heated pool is still a heated pool in a light drizzle. Just come inside if you hear thunder.
