Saturday Morning at the Sarasota Farmers Market

· 2 min read · By the BigTree Stays team

Fresh citrus, local honey, flowers and breakfast from the food stalls. Here is how to do downtown Sarasota's Saturday market like a local.

Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, the streets around Lemon Avenue and Main Street in downtown Sarasota fill with tents. The Sarasota Farmers Market is one of the longest-running markets on Florida's Gulf Coast, and it has become a weekly ritual for locals.

Expect Florida produce in season (strawberries in late winter, citrus through the cooler months), local honey, fresh bread, flowers, plants, handmade goods and plenty of ready-to-eat breakfast. Live music often drifts down the block, and dogs on leashes are part of the scene.

We like to go early, grab coffee and something warm, and do one slow lap before buying anything. Then we stock up for the week: fruit for the pool, flowers for the table and something special for a dinner at home.

Siesta Key has a smaller Sunday market in the Village too, so you can make a weekend of it.
