Sarasota With Kids: Our Family Bucket List
Gardens with rope bridges, sharks and sea turtles, a miniature circus, bike trails and alligators. The best kid-approved outings near our homes.
Sarasota is a wonderful place to travel with children, because the best things to do are outdoors, close together and easy to fit around nap time and pool time.
Start with the beach, of course. Siesta Beach has soft sand, lifeguards, a playground and a gentle slope into the water. Then mix in one outing a day from this list, each with its own post on our blog: Selby Gardens and its children's rainforest, Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, the miniature circus at The Ringling, the planetarium and manatee habitat at The Bishop in Bradenton, a family bike ride on the Legacy Trail and a gator-spotting morning at Myakka River State Park.
Keep evenings simple: a swim in the heated pool, burgers on the grill and a walk to see the sunset. Every one of our homes has a pack n play and a high chair, plus beach toys and pool toys, so you can pack lighter.
